Hello,
My name is Sarah. I am new to this protein power. I am usually doing low carbs and have had some success with Atkins. My question is : Where do I find the information on starting this? How is it different from Atkins? The way i got here is coming by a thread on intermittent fasting by Dr Eades. Does anyone do that? I know for myself, I seem to like the IF. Well, I know it is not much of an introduction, but I have asked enough questions for now. Sarah "Speak for those who cannot speak for themselves...." Proverbs 13:8 |

Hi and welcome Sarah
![]() The best way to find information (as it is with Atkins) is to read at least one of the books. As you are already a low carber, I suggest you start with PPLP - which is the best explanation out there of the science behind a low carb way of life, and explains in some detail the health benefits of eating this way (as I'm sure you know, it goes way beyond weight loss). And yes, I IF from tome to time, and as long as I don't get to the stage where I overcompensate when I break the fast, it works fine and is another useful way to tweak an already great way to live.

Hi Sarah!
The Protein Power Lifeplan book (PPLP) is probably the best one to get for a good introduction to the PP low carb diet. Here's the Amazon link from the "Books" section above: Protein Power Lifeplan. Its a bit different from Atkins. When I was choosing a low carb diet to follow, I was attracted to the Protein Power explanation because I thought it had more scientific explanations. It is also less restrictive during the first phase (coffee is allowed, etc.) There is more emphasis on natural foods and less on pre-packaged snacks among the followers of Protein Power. And the Drs. Eades are still researching, blogging about the diet, and creating recipes. Atkins has a new book out that I'm reading, and it is very similar to PPLP. They even have a chapter called "The Power of Protein" Not sure if that info was in the New Diet Revolution book.
