Default Re: Escape Your Shape/Escape Your Weight

The Eades advocate Slow Burn.

Personally, I wouldn't do it Venuto's way. I'd either rest until I was less overfat or else do a mix of exercises like Mark Sisson's Primal Blueprint. Long aerobics is like a waste of time if you don't enjoy it (I don't), can add to inflammation (which morbidly obese people have anyway) and can lead to overuse injuries because of the weight.

I do think he has a point that the super obese are lifting their own body weight in addition to the iron, and that has to have a training effect which one might not want. He's one of the few who acknowledges this. Also the mechanics change when morbidly obese, - you hold your legs out farther for larger thighs, which changes stress on knees, things like that.

The problem I had with "aerobics" while supersized was, it was too much stress and inflammation. The way I was doing it.

Did you happen to ask Mr. Venuto *why* he has that philosophy? I respect his work even though don't always agree. I even read "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle" but I forgot the why.
