Michael R. Eades, M.D.

Dr. Michael Eades was born in Springfield, Missouri and educated in Missouri, Michigan, and California. He received his undergraduate degree in engineering from California State Polytechnic University, and received his medical degree from the University of Arkansas. After completing his medical and post-graduate training, he and his wife, Mary Dan, founded Medi-Stat Medical Clinics, a chain of ambulatory family care clinics in central Arkansas, which became the largest outpatient family medical practice in the state. The doctors sold the chain in 1992 to an American Stock Exchange corporation.

Since 1986 Dr. Eades has been in the full time practice o baruatric, nutritional, and metabolic medicine.

In November of 1996 the Drs. Eades and their clinic and treatment methods were the subject of a two-part special new feature broadcast nationally on NBC.

Dr. Eades is the author and co-author of numerous books on health and nutrition. His book, Thin So Fast, published by Warner Books in 1989 was the first book to introduce the concept of insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia to the general public.

Dr. Eades serves as Associate Editor for Nutrition and Metabolism, a peer-review journal based in London.

Dr. Eades and his wife, Dr. Mary Dan Eades write, co-produce, and serve as on-camera chefs of a national PBS television cooking show, Low Carb CookwoRx.

In addition, they give numerous lectures to the general public and to various lay and medical organizations on their methods of treatment. They have both been guest nutritional experts on over 150 radio and television shows including national segments for FOX and CBS.

Drs. Michael and Mary Dan Eades have three sons and three grandchildren, and currently write, lecture, and pursue research into metabolic and nutritional medicine.

The New York Times bestseller, Protein Power, published by Bantam Books in 1996, which expanded the nutritional concept and broadened its scope. Currently still in print, Protein Power has sold approximately 4 million copies.

The 30-day Low Carb Diet Solution (Wiley 2003) a basic primer and 30-day defined plan for low carb dieting.
The Low Carb Comfort Food Cookbook (Wiley 2003) in collaboration with Ursula Solom offered a new twist on low carb cooking and baking.
The Slow Burn Fitness Revolution (Broadway 2003) in collaboration with New York fitness guru Fred Hahn, detailed the scientific underpinnings of slow speed strength training and its benefits in cardiovascular fitness.
Staying Power: Maintaining Your Low Carb Weight Loss for Good (Wiley 2005) laid out specific plans for weight and health maintenance from a nutritional, psychological, and exercise perspective, as taught to patients by the doctors in their 20 years of clinical practice.
The Low Carb CookwoRx Cookbook, Wiley 2005, is the companion book to the Eades’ PBS television series of the same name.
Low Carb CookwoRx television show. The Eades co-produce, write, and star in this public television series, a cooking and nutrition show, which currently airs all across the nation, primarily on PBS HD (high definition tv) feed affiliates.

In 2009, the Eades co-founded Advanced Nutrilogics, a nutritional supplement research and development company. 

The Eades serve as guest lecturers to medical audiences, the general public, and various lay organizations on their methods of treatment. They have been guest nutritional experts on over 150 radio and television shows including national segments for FOX, CBS, and MSNBC.
